What several years ago was
intended to be the kind of art installation that
just makes a person want to smile has turned into an
eyesore. The railroad viaduct at the end of South
Kickapoo was painted with a hot air balloon theme by
Chris Tice, Kathy Vinyard, Roy Logan and a lot of
volunteers. In recent years, the paint has
deteriorated, plus the work of the artists has been
marred with graffiti.
Soren Aukamp recently visited the
Lincoln City Council and shared his plans to
refurbish the viaduct as his Eagle Scout Project
this summer. To qualify for Eagle Scout status,
Aukamp will need to plan the project, secure
materials, and lead a team in completing the
project.
He told the council he intends to start on the
project this summer.
