Justin Cheager with Stone River Group addressed the Lincoln City Council Committee of the Whole meeting Wednesday evening. Cheager has for the past several years represented the city in its electric mitigation plans. This time, he was talking with the council about an energy assessment he had coordinated with Ameren Illinois. In the assessment three city owned properties were identified as qualifying for the Ameren Lighting Project where existing fixtures can be replaced with new energy efficient fixtures and lighting.

Cheager said city hall, the Hamilton Street garage and certain buildings at the waste treatment plant in Lincoln are eligible to get approximately $45,000 in new materials for upgrading the lighting systems. The city will need to pay the labor costs attached to the project which comes to about $16,000.

In summary, the city can get about $60,000 in lighting upgrades for $16K. In addition, Cheager said the city would make back that $16K in energy savings over the next few years.

The council will be asked to entertain a motion to approve the project in the Monday, March 3rd voting session.
