The Pink Shirt Picture for Tuesday, October 7th in the Lincoln Daily News Paint the Paper Pink campaign features our friends at the Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society. This is a group of folks who devote a great deal of time to preserving the local history in Logan County and tracking our genealogy. What they do will be invaluable for future generations because it gives those who are not even yet born a means of knowing where they came from and what roles family members may have played in the history of our community.

Keeping a historical record of family health through the generations is also something that is vitally important for the future generations. When someone goes to the doctor for the first time suspecting a health issue, more often than not, the doctor is going to ask about family history.

While not all diseases are hereditary, some are, and knowing if there are cases of cancer in the family history and what type of cancer can be helpful in aiding your doctor in narrowing searches.

So, do your family a great service by making a medical history journal. Keep it current, and share it with family members so they can accurately answer questions when they visit their physicians.
