At the Monday, January 5, 2026, meeting of the Lincoln City Council, aldermen witnessed the swearing ceremony promoting Officer Christy Fruge to the rank of Deputy Chief in the Lincoln Police Department.

Fruge has an impressive history in the department, having served the city of Lincoln for in excess of 25 years. She has been very instrumental in the success of the Lincoln D.A.R.E program as well as serving as a regional trainer for that program. She has also served for the past several years as School Resource Officer in the District 27 school system.

She was sworn into her new position with the department by city attorney John Hoblit.
