Gators jump in and swim
almost year-round

[JULY 26, 2000]  On a humid summer morning, the Lincoln Gator Swim Club courageously jumps into the chilled waters of the Lincoln Elks' pool. The Elks' pool is used for practice and for meets during the summer. Lincoln College Natatorium pool is used during the winter months. The Gators energetically swim 10 months out of the year, only resting during August and March.

Life in the fast lane

[JULY 26, 2000]  Amanda Coppinger of Lincoln has been experiencing life in the fast lane at our local Hardee's. Like most teenagers, Amanda is working to save money for her future goals. She soon plans to attend the University of Illinois and major in photography. "I want to own my own studio in California," she says.

names new board members

[JULY 26, 2000]  New community volunteers took their seats on the boards of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital during the hospital’s annual meeting. The joint meeting of the ALMH Board of Directors and the boards of Abraham Lincoln Healthcare Foundation and Lincoln Health Services Inc. served to recognize retiring members and welcome new board members.

[JULY 26, 2000]  Opening day for Lincoln Elementary School District 27 this year has been scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 22. Students in grades kindergarten through six are to report to their respective schools at 8:30 a.m. on opening day, and Lincoln Junior High School students are to report at 8:15 a.m.
