Kathy Shryock

Kathy B. Shryock, 48, of San Jose died at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 29, at First Church of God in Pekin, with Pastor Plogger officiating.

There is no visitation.

Hurley Funeral Home of Mason City is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shryock was a homemaker.

She was born Oct. 28, 1953, in Delavan to Jess and Ruby Slack Deweese. She married Thomas Shryock on April 5, 1986, in Hearne, Texas. He survives.

Other survivors are one son, Christopher Allen of San Jose; one daughter, Cassie Allen of San Jose; one grandchild; three brothers, Gary (and Sharon) Deweese of Delavan, Duane (and Beverly) Deweese of Delavan and Keith (and Melody) Deweese of Kilbourne; and one sister, Marilyn Wilson of Delavan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kathy Shryock Memorial Fund, in care of San Jose Tri-County Bank.

Robert Elkins

Robert B. Elkins, 68, of Lincoln died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at his home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation.

Elkins worked at Ball Incon before he retired in 1992. He was an upkeep man in the forming department.

He served in the U.S. Army during the 1950s.

He was born Nov. 25, 1933, in Lincoln to Burl C. and Anna M. Voyles Elkins.

Survivors are his companion, Louise Baldwin; two sisters, Nancy Carpenter of Lincoln and Peggy (and husband Tom) Coady of Lick Wales, Fla.; one brother, William G. (and wife Betty) Elkins of Lincoln; two nieces; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn J. Elkins, who died in infancy.

He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of American Legion Post 263 of Lincoln.
