[AUG. 13, 2003]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is also open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership.

Potluck and bingo

Join us Thursday at 11:30 a.m. for the monthly potluck, featuring fried chicken. Bring a dish to pass or a $3 donation. The monthly drawing is sponsored by First Wok.

Stay for bingo at 1 p.m., sponsored by The Oasis, with surprise prizes.

If you are having problems with Medicare or secondary insurance, call 732-6132 for an appointment. The Senior Health Insurance Program volunteer is available each Thursday from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

"Peace of Mind" seminar

The offices of Sen. Bomke, Sen. Brady and state Treasurer Judy Barr Topinka are the sponsors for a "Financial Peace of Mind" seminar at the senior center. Learn how to protect yourself from financial fraud and how to recognize the latest scams. The Cash Dash program will also be available to assist individuals in finding unclaimed property. Join us Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. No reservation necessary.

Van trip

There are still a few seats available for Tanners Orchard on Sept. 10 and Harvest Fest in Petersburg on Sept. 20. Call 732-6132 for a reservation. Each trip costs $12 for members and $14 for nonmembers.

Game winners

Pauline Boward won pinochle, and Tom Garrison won 5 in 1. Betty Burger and Len Krapp were the lucky rummy winners. During the week Iona Fulscher and Mable Hoagland won pinochle.
