[AUG. 27, 2003]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is also open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership.

Bingo

AARP will sponsor bingo, starting at 1 p.m. Thursday. Bring in your gently used white elephant items for prizes.

Senior Health Insurance Program

If you need assistance with your Medicare or secondary insurance billing or reimbursement problems, call The Oasis for an appointment, 732-6132. Appointments are available each Thursday between 2 and 4 p.m.

Lunch reservations due Aug. 29

The $3.50 lunch tickets for the Sept. 2 meal of beef stew with rice and salad with bread and butter must be purchased by noon Friday, Aug. 29, due to the Monday holiday.

Labor Day holiday

The Oasis will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, for the Labor Day holiday. Regularly scheduled activities will resume Sept. 2.

Hearing screening

Appointments are available for free hearing screenings on Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m. to noon. Please call ahead, 732-6132.

Game winners

Marjorie Reiners won pinochle, Betty Burger won 5 in 1, and on Sunday Ann Greger and Betty Burger won rummy. Weekday pinochle winners were Mable Hoagland and Pauline Boward.
