Marian
Overbey, 76, of Lincoln died Thursday (Dec. 4, 2003) at
5:59 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
She was cremated.
There will be no visitation or
services.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery,
Lincoln, at a later date.
Mrs. Overbey worked for 20 years at
Lincoln Garment Factory.
She was born April 28, 1927, in Lincoln
to Cletus and Margaret Schmidt Pfeifer. She married John Overbey on
June 29, 1956, in Lincoln.
Survivors are her husband, of Lincoln;
two sons, Ronald L. Bree of Lincoln and Ralph A. (and Nancy) Bree of
Lincoln; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three
sisters, Marjorie Bode of McLean, Phyllis Moriearty of Lincoln and
Delores McGill of New York.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, two brothers and one sister.
She was a member of Holy Family Church
in Lincoln.
Memorials may be made to the church or
the American Heart Association.

Doris Jessie
Baker, 88, formerly of Lincoln died Nov.
23, 2003, at 9:20 a.m. at Tandem Health Care Center, Vero Beach,
Fla.
Her funeral will be
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 6) at St. John United Church of Christ
in Lincoln, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating.
Visitation will be at
the church one hour before the service.
Burial will be in
Lucas Chapel Cemetery, Lincoln.
Arrangements are
being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
Mrs. Baker was a
homemaker.
She was born Dec. 19,
1914, in Nevada, Iowa, to Newton Franklin and Mabel Minor Pifer. She
married Merle Whitney Baker on March 7, 1936, in Ames, Iowa.
Survivors are one
daughter, Martha Mabel Baker (and Arland) Phelps of Vero Beach,
Fla.; two sons, David Merle (and Carol) Baker of Madison, Wis., and
Jonathan Read (and Cathy) Baker of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; 10
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bernice
Hazel John of State College, Pa.
She was preceded in
death by her husband and three sisters, Lois Pifer, Elda Stowe and
Shirley Kildow.
She was a member of
St. John United Church of Christ.

E. Earl Smith,
83, of Hemet, Calif., formerly of Decatur, died Nov. 27, 2003, at
8:15 p.m. at his home. In California he had also lived at Pasadena,
Whittier and LaMirada.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
Friday (Dec. 5) at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount
Pulaski.
A graveside service and military rites
will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pulaski Cemetery. The Rev. Frank
Pieper will officiate.
Mr. Smith was general sales manager at
A.W. Cash Co. in Decatur before he retired.
During World War II he served in the
U.S. Army with "B" Company of the 9th Armored Engineers .
He was born March 25, 1920, in Decatur
to Roy and Faye Moore Smith. He married Margaret Pease Moore in
1966. She survives.
Other survivors are one son, David (and
Sue) Smith of Olathe, Kan., and Louisville, Ky.; two daughters,
Diane Musselman of Palm Springs, Calif., and Sharon (and David)
Dahler of Denton, Texas; seven grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Tippitt of Pasadena, Calif.;
and two nephews.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran
Church in Hemet, Calif., and the Hemet Elks Lodge 1740.
In Decatur he was instrumental in
forming Faries Parkway Nazarene Church, aka Parkway Church of the
Nazarene.
