Walter Null

Walter J. Null, 82, of Easton died Saturday (Nov. 1, 2003) at 7:40 p.m. at Mason City Area Nursing Home in Mason City.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. There will be a Masonic service at 8 p.m.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Home, with Brother Abraham Mogerman officiating.

Burial will be in Easton Cemetery.

Mr. Null was an operating engineer for RA Cullinan of Tremont for 50 years. He was a former mayor of Easton.

He served in the Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946, during World War II.

He was born July 13, 1921, in Pike County to Oliver Walter and Margaret Woodley Null. He married Reba Garrison on July 6, 1946, in Pekin. She survives.

Other survivors are three daughters, Janice (and Waymon) Norton of Jackson, Ga., Carol Sue (and Kent) Tangman of Easton and Patti Jo (and Tony) Fields of Easton; eight grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Marlyn Null, Richard Null, Gary Null and Raymond Allen, all of Pekin; and two sisters, Rosie Ritchie and Mary Hyatt, both of Spring Lake.

He was a member of New Lebanon Baptist Church in rural Kilbourne, Masonic Lodge 403 in Mason City and Operating Engineers Local 649.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter and woodworker.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Lebanon Baptist Church.

Carol Goodgion

Carol Jean Gragg Goodgion, 72, of Lincoln died Sunday (Nov. 2, 2003) at 7:10 a.m. at the Christian Village.

She was cremated.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lincoln Christian Church, with Tom Gerdts officiating.

Inurnment will be at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home of Lincoln.

Mrs. Goodgion was an accounting clerk at Economy Fire and Casualty Co. in Lincoln before she retired. She was formerly employed by INA Insurance Co. in Richmond, Ind.; Gragg's Hatchery in Cambridge City, Ind.; and as supervisor of sewing at Paul Casket Co. in Cambridge City, Ind.

She was born July 16, 1931, in Henry County, Mo., to Lawrence A. and E. Lorene George Gragg. She married Carl Goodgion on Sept. 8, 1957, in Richmond, Ind. He died Sept. 6, 1967.

Survivors are five daughters, Gail (and Allen) King of Lincoln, Pamela (and James) Rogers of Dayton, Ohio, Toni (and David) Shank of Pershing, Ind., Melanie Goodgion of Lincoln and Mitzi Goodgion of Dayton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and two brothers, Lawrence "Bud" Burton Gragg of Ellenton, Fla., and Roland "R.J." Gragg of Littleton, Colo.

She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to the Christian Village or Alzheimer's Association.
