[NOV. 26, 2003]
A local Atlanta worship
leader has her holiday hopes set on singing in Nashville. At one in
11, her chances of doing that are now pretty high. Renee
Stubblefield is in the third and final round of a competition in
which the winner will receive a $100,000 Nashville recording
contract.

Stubblefield's quest to Nashville began
weeks ago when she attended an open audition and was selected as the
winner in this region. She was then invited to participate in the
semifinals in Branson, Mo., on Nov. 16.
"The All Night Sing Nashville Starseek
Show" narrowed the field to 11 competitors. Each of the performances
was video recorded to be put on the World Wide Web for an audience
vote.
The Branson-Nashville talent
competition takes place yearly, looking for aspiring country and
gospel singers. It is sponsored by Dr. Jimmy Fowler of Nashville.
Fowler is the second generation of this tradition. His father was
the originator of The Oakridge Boys and began Fowler Productions 55
years ago.
Winners of this competition have been
launched into highly successful careers. The first winner was none
other than the famous Hank Williams. The second year's winner was
Patsy Cline.
This year's winner will head to
Nashville, Tenn., in April 2004.

While the first part of the competition
was judged by Fowler and the contest producers, the next part is to
be decided by the viewing audience.
Voting opened Monday (Nov. 24) and goes
to Sunday (Nov. 30). You can hear and see the performances at
www.wcin.ac. Look under the Nov. 16
performances in the talent contest.
Then, if you would like to help
Stubblefield get to Nashville, you can make a phone call by the
deadline, and for a small fee you can cast your vote. Stubblefield's
artist voting number is 139. The phone number is 1 (900) 446-2323.
The cost is only $1.99 per call.
The aspiring gospel singer said, "I
greatly appreciate your vote and most definitely your prayers."
Stubblefield
leads worship at Faith Christian Centre in Atlanta and is a resident
of McLean.
