"Krystina Gomez had another great game
against John Wood, giving up four hits and striking out nine while
walking no one," said Lincoln coach John Andrews. "She also came up
with the big base hit to drive in our only run in the fifth inning.
We should have won the second game; however, John Wood scored three
times in the fifth, all unearned runs.
"On Sunday, Krystina recorded 11
strikeouts and no walks while allowing four hits and a pair of runs.
They scored two runs in the first inning and Krystina had smooth
sailing the rest of the way. Once again our defense hurt in the
second game as we gave Shawnee a win.
"I have a good feeling about our
hitting; it is starting to come around. We had 27 hits in the two
games on Sunday."
Ashley Shaw had three hits and four
RBI to lead the way against Shawnee in the 6-2 win. Kelly Nader and
Jen Clemings each had two hits as Lincoln College had 13 safeties in
the contest. In the second game, Maleaha Hayward and Sarah Franklin
each had three hits, with Franklin collecting two RBIs and Hayward
scoring two runs. Shaw and Chonita Ziegler each had a pair of hits.
Against John Wood, Hayward had three
hits in the second game while Shaw, Clemings and Beth Smith each had
one hit. Shaw, Ziegler, Tiffany Tungate, Christie Frasco and Gomez
had the Lynx hits in game one against John Wood.
In its next softball action, Lincoln
College will host Lincoln Land College on Thursday at 3 p.m.
