The annual Logan County Spelling Bee
was conducted at the Logan County Courthouse on Tuesday. Thirteen school
representatives were involved in this year's bee, which lasted six rounds and
consisted of 41 words.

Jean Anderson, regional superintendent of schools, and Hannah Sheley,
the spelling bee winner
Hannah Sheley, daughter of Brad and
Angie Sheley, was this year's winner. Hannah is in the seventh grade
at Carroll Catholic School. She won the spelling bee by correctly
spelling the word "Soviet."
Raeann Sheley, daughter of Jay and
Sheila Sheley and a seventh-grade student at Lincoln Zion Lutheran
School, was the first runner-up. Chelsie Landstrom, an eighth-grader
at Chester-East Lincoln Elementary, was second runner-up. She is the
daughter of Mary Beth Landstrom.

each of the three finalists.
The Regional Office of Education and
the Pantagraph sponsor the spelling bee jointly.

These three finalists will represent
Logan County at the Pantagraph Spelling Bee on April 2 at Central
Catholic High School in Bloomington.
