LCHS students rev for state with weekend accomplishments       Send a link to a friend

[JAN. 31, 2005]  While not competing as a team this weekend, Lincoln Community High School speech team members had a successful final competition before the state series begins, hosting their own tournament.

Lincoln was led by tournament champions Tom Swanson in declamation and special occasion speaking, Brian Welter in radio and extemporaneous, Lindsey Boerma in humorous interpretation, and Brady Gerdts and Eric Knutilla in humorous duet.

Other LCHS finalists were Brady Gerdts and Kathryn Muck, third in dramatic duet; Muck, second in dramatic interpretation; Cameron Kurtz, fifth in extemporaneous; Kassandra Pepperell, fourth in declamation; Lindsey Boerma, third, and Rachel Hahn, sixth, in original comedy; Tom Swanson, third in oratory; Rachel Kasa, fourth in prose; and Sonya Twist, fifth in special occasion.

The team will host "Meet the Regional Team" on Thursday night at 6:30 and will attend the IHSA regional at Normal Community High School on Saturday.
