Day poster winners acknowledged by Lincoln City Council

In line with
Lincoln's awareness of the importance of maintaining trees for a
healthier, more beautiful environment, the city streets department
hosts a poster contest for grade school students each year. Streets
Superintendent Tracy Jackson presented the winners of the contest
and their posters to the city council.

For the past four years Lincoln has
been awarded Tree City USA designation from the Illinois Department
of Natural Resources for our forestry efforts. The city maintains a
tree program to replace aging trees or adds trees from the city
nursery as needed or requested.

 Winners of this year's contest each
received a "happy meal" from McDonald's, bowling pass from Logan
Lanes, an ice cream cone from Gleason's Dairy Bar and a kickball
from the city's D.A.R.E. program.
- First place: Kara Dickson
As first-place winner Miss Dickson also received a tree from
Wilmert Tree Farms.

- Third place: Emily Sanders
