LINCOLN -- Lura Inez Curry,
81, formerly of Pekin, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at 3:50
a.m. at St. Clara's Manor.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hurley
Funeral Home in Mason City.
A graveside service will be at
2 p.m. Wednesday at Lakeside Cemetery, Pekin.
Mrs. Curry was a homemaker.
She was born Dec. 20, 1923, in
Mississippi to Troy and Odella Laird Lowrance. She
married Edward Lee Simer, and he preceded her in death. She
married Charles M. Curry in 1969, and he died in 1985.
She is survived by one son,
Forrest E. Simer of Mason City; one daughter, Phyllis (and
Jeff) Copeland of Greentown, Ind.; one grandchild; 12
great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren; and
two sisters, Luella Brown of Bolivar, Tenn., and Deborah
Howell of Pocahontas, Tenn.
She was also preceded in death by one sister and one
daughter, Eva (wife of Bill) Harrison.
She was a member of the
General Baptist Church in South Pekin.
Memorial contributions may be
made to Maple Ridge Retirement Center or American Diabetes
Association.

MASON CITY -- Lorene Tackman,
84, of Mason City died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at 9:52 a.m.
at her home.
A graveside service will be at
10 a.m. Thursday at Mason City Cemetery, with Nash Shawgo
officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Hurley Funeral Home is
handling arrangements.
Mrs. Tackman was a nurse's
aide in Lincoln, first at the state school and then at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 3, 1921, in
rural Greenview to Herman Henry and Elizabeth Schaub
Brinkmeyer. She married Carl Lewis Tackman on May 12, 1945, He
died Sept. 27, 1972.
She is survived by two sons,
Carl "Bud" Tackman and Ronald Tackman, both of Mason City;
four daughters, Janet Simmons of Greenview, Bonnie Pierson of
Mason City, and Linda Allen and Sharon Williams, both of
Damascus, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and
two sisters, Dorothy Wark of Middletown and Lucille Lee of
Lincoln.
She was also preceded in death
by two brothers and four sisters.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the donor's choice.

LINCOLN --
John L. White, 77, of Lincoln, formerly of New Holland, died
Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at 8:23 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital.
A graveside
service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Richmond Grove Cemetery,
rural New Holland, with the Rev. Julie Azbell officiating.
Military rites will be accorded.
There will
be no visitation.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling
arrangements.
Mr. White
was a lifelong farmer in the New Holland area.
He served in the U.S. Army during World
War II.
He was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Lincoln to
George and Emily Laforge White. He married Muriel Barrett.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln;
three sons, Rodney J. (and Paula) White, James R. (and Jane)
White and John T. (and Connie) White, all of New Holland; five
grandchildren, Brittney, Lacey, John, Alycen and Connor White,
all of New Holland; two great-grandchildren, Jacey and Jack
White of New Holland; and one sister, Mary C. (and George)
Fletcher of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his parents
and two daughters, Margaret and Rebecca.
He was a member of New Holland United
Methodist Church and Greenview Masonic Lodge.
Memorials
may be made to the New Holland United Methodist Church or to
the donor's choice.

LINCOLN --
Robert Corwin Grimes, 77, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at
2:45 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.
His funeral
was at 10 a.m. Monday at Hartsburg Union Cemetery,
Hartsburg, with the Rev. Julie Azbell officiating and military
rites conducted by Emden
American Legion Post 506.
There was no
visitation.
Holland and
Barry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Grimes
was a teacher and coach at Hartsburg-Emden High School before
he retired.
He was a
U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was born
April 2, 1927, in Montpelier, Ohio, to Cecil D. and Grace A.
Nugent Grimes. He married Helen M. Burnett in Jacksonville in
1960. She survives.
Surviving
sons and daughters are David (and wife Elizabeth) Asher of
Clearwater, Fla., Jeff Grimes of Center Hill, Fla., Donald C.
(and Alexis) Asher of Hartsburg, Katherine (and Tim) Rademaker
of Ohio, Ill., Mary (and David) James of Arlington, Wash., and
Todd (and Linda) Grimes of Azle, Texas. He is also survived by
12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jane
(and Robert) Storrer of Montpelier, Ohio; and one brother,
Bill Grimes of Savannah, Tenn.
He was
preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael; and one
brother, Frank Grimes.
He was a
member of the Hartsburg Methodist Church and a lifetime member
and past commander of Emden American Legion Post 506.
He received
his bachelor's degree from Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio.
