Dear Editor: Of all the people in this town, I would never have
expected to see a
letter from Mr. Van Bibber in favor of a Super Wal-Mart.
Citizens for Justice should be stoutly against any Super Wal-Mart
facility coming to Lincoln. It seems most of Lincoln thinks that it
would be a tax increase for Lincoln, when that is what they told the
city the last time they decided to move and build another building.
What about all those small businesses that ARE going to be
affected by this giant retailer? It is true that there will be more
jobs, but does it make sense to bring in 50 to 100 minimum wage
jobs, or a place like Sysco that is paying more than double the
wages Wal-Mart pays?
Another good point brought up at the city council meeting was,
Why should the city have to give back money to the world's largest
retailer?

These people are for nothing except to run our small businesses
out of town and take over our retail sales. I find it hard to
believe that Wal-Mart would do any good for this town.
As for a Super Wal-Mart bringing in other retailers, Are you
kidding me? From my viewpoint there aren't too many retailers that
would set up shop next to or in the direct path of one of these
business killers.
We can keep kidding ourselves into thinking this is good for
Lincoln, or we can hold our ground and not allow them to come in and
ruin our town!
