To the editor: Why is the price of gas so much higher in Lincoln
than surrounding communities? Why do all the stations raise their
prices within minutes of each other? Do they all belong to a cartel
and conspire to gouge the citizens of Lincoln? Why do all the gas
stations in Lincoln never engage in price wars? Do they all get
their gas from the same wholesaler who sets the prices? Would the
Lincoln station owners lower their prices if everyone bought gas
from cheaper sources like Atlanta, Clinton, Hopedale, Minier,
Williamsville and Springfield, just to name a few?
Lincoln and the surrounding area is a fairly affluent community
and deserves better treatment from certain local merchants who want
to make all the money they can from our people.
