MOUNT PULASKI -- Clara W. Voorhees, 89, of Mount Pulaski died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at 12:40 p.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Services will be in New Jersey, with burial in Greenwich Cemetery, Stewartsville, N.J.

Local arrangements were handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Mrs. Voorhees was a retired elementary teacher.

She was born Feb. 22, 1916, in West New York, N.J., to Frederick and Anna Biermann Wiebe. She married Arthur Voorhees in Greenwich Township, N.J., on March 23, 1940. He died March 30, 1999.

She is survived by one son, William H. (and Georgene) Voorhees of Maroa; one daughter, Susan (and Jay) Rutan of Easton, Pa.; one brother, William (and Ann) Wiebe of Panama City, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Voorhees.

She was a member of the Warrensburg United Methodist Church.

She graduated from Caldwell High School in Caldwell, N.J., and Trenton State in Trenton, N.J.

LINCOLN -- Annie Rose Zaborac, 86, formerly of Mount Pulaski, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Clara’s Manor.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Kevin Treptow officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.

Mrs. Zaborac was a retired telephone operator and had also worked as a custodian at the Mount Pulaski Courthouse.

She was born July 26, 1919, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to Zebedee and Jane Kendall Whitmore. She married Clarence Cecil Buckles in Windsor, Canada, on June 30, 1942. He died Feb. 19, 1961. She married Carl Zaborac Sr. in Mount Pulaski on Feb. 17, 1973. He died Nov. 14, 1987.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda (and Ronald) Parker of Lincoln; a son-in-law, Dean Leesman of Hartsburg; seven grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Leesman; three stepsons; and one stepgrandson.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Pulaski, Rebekah Lodge and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Memorials may be made to support multiple sclerosis patients and research.

Christopher Slack

LINCOLN -- Christopher L. “Chris” Slack, 37, of Lincoln, Illinois went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 8, 2005 at home with his family.

A memorial gathering will be held 5-7 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln, Illinois. Memorial Services will be 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2005 also at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Bennett officiating.

Chris was born June 27, 1968 in Lincoln, Illinois to Lloyd and Carol (Bryant) Slack. He married Karyl (Crawford) February 27, 1995. He graduated Lincoln High School in 1986 and then went on to become a graduate of Lincoln College and Illinois State University with a degree in Fine Arts.
He was employed by Lincoln Cinemas for several years, the Department of Corrections in Lincoln and Pontiac Illinois, and was the Circulation Manager for the Lincoln Courier for 10 years.

Chris was an active member of Kingdom Life Ministries, the Vice President of the Board of Directors of Main Street Lincoln, a member of Community Builders, and sat on the board of Directors for Mental Health Centers of Illinois – Logan / Mason Rehabilitation Center. .

He was involved in No Holds Barred Ultimate Fighting for several years and studied Karate.

Wife Karyl Slack of Lincoln, Illinois
Daughters Krystina and Kathryn Slack both at home in Lincoln, Illinois

Sister Cara Slack of Lincoln, Illinois
Sister Kimberly Coletto of Canyon Country, California

He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents Roy and Marjorie Slack and his Maternal Grandfather Wallace Bryant.

Memorial donations may be made to Kingdom Life Ministries, Sarcoma Foundation of America, or Wayne J. Schall Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.

GIBSON CITY -- Lillian M. O'Neal, 96, of Colfax, formerly of Gibson City, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Colfax, where she had lived since 2002.

A graveside service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, rural Stanford. Tony Billingsley officiated.

There was no visitation.

Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, handled arrangements.

Mrs. O'Neal was a homemaker.

She was born July 5, 1909, at Atchison, Kan., to Bernard and Daisy May Swinehart King. She married Ivan O'Neal on Jan. 14, 1950. He died July 21, 1993.

She is survived by one sister, Velda Schertz of Hot Springs, Ark., and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening.

Memorials may be made to McLean Ambulance or the American Diabetes Association.

Teresa M. Anders, 46, Mt. Pulaski, formerly of Mt. Auburn, Il

Teresa M. Anders, 46 of Mt. Pulaski, formerly of Mt. Auburn, Il. died at 12:06 a.m. on Oct. 9th at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski, Il.
Services are set for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at the funeral home.
Michael A. Smith will preside.

Interment is at Steenbergen Cemetery, rural Mt. Pulaski, Il.

Mrs. Anders was born in Lincoln on March 6, 1959 to Franklin and Nancy Conoway Wilham. She married Bill Anders in Mt. Pulaski, Il. on March 31, 1984.

She is survived by her husband Bill; one daughter, Nancy Anders; three brothers, Dennis (Paula) Wilham of Mt. Pulaski, Il., Dale (Bonnie) Wilham of Lincoln, Il., David Wilham of Mt. Pulaski, Il.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Anders was a housewife and a member of Berea Christian Church of Mt. Auburn, Il.

J. Norman Stopher

J Norman Stopher Sr., 62, of Mt. Pulaski, died at 10:58 a.m. on October 8, 2005 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday October 13, 2005 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski, Il. Bill Shanle will preside. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Stopher was cremated. Interment will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, Rural Mt. Pulaski, Il.

Mr. Stopher was born on March 30, 1943 to Charles and Beulah Poffenbarger Stopher in Macon Co, Il.

He is survived by two sons, Oscar Lee (Deb) Stopher of Alabama, J Norman Stopher Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; two daughters, Gwen Stopher of Cornland, Kim (Joel) Brion of Topeka, Kansas and two brothers, John (Elvira) Stopher of Mt. Pulaski., Harold (Donna) Stopher of Hephzibah, Georgia. He had six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Mr. Stopher was a retired farm worker and a member of Buffalo Christian Church.
