Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at
Quiram Funeral Home. His funeral will be at 10
a.m. Friday at the Eminence Christian Church, rural
Atlanta, with Shawn Harris officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery,
Waynesville, with military rites conducted by the
Waynesville American Legion.
He worked for Rowe Construction and R.A. Cullinan
and also operated Gresham Spring Lake Fishing. After
14 years of retirement, he worked for Hoblit Seed
Company and farmed for Jerry Wisted.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947.
He was born at Atlanta to Clinton Otto and
Bernice Maude Lawyer Gresham. He married Elizabeth
Harvey. Later he married Doris D. Beck on Dec. 31,
1964, and she died Feb. 16, 2004.
Surviving are 12 children, Kathy (and David)
Wells of Hillsboro, Barbara (and Ed) Schultz of
Bloomington, Wayne (and Janet) Gresham of West
Plains, Mo., Robert G. (and Becky) Gresham of West
Plains, Mo., Donna Kaye (and Dale) Sympson of
Clinton, Charmin (and Tom) Karrick of Atlanta, Cindy
(and Harold) Coggins of Armington, Richard (and
Kelly) Hoefert of Middletown, Theresa (and Charles)
Funk of McLean, Babbette (and Aaron) Ware of
Atlanta, LaDonna (and William) Feezor of Armington
and Jim (and Laura) Gresham of Atlanta; two
brothers, Delbert (and Faye) Gresham of Atlanta and
William (and Fern) Gresham of Atlanta; one sister,
Mary Lou Gresham of Lincoln; 46 grandchildren; 67
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; two
sisters; one son, Harold Clinton; one grandson,
Daniel C. Gresham, killed in action in Iraq in
February 2005; and one great-granddaughter.
He was a member of the Waynesville American
Legion and Operating Engineers Local 649 of Peoria.
He was drafted into the Army and later
re-enlisted for 18 months. He trained at Fort Bragg,
N.C. Stationed at Camp Carson, Colo., he was a
technician, grade 5 cook with the 38th Field
Artillery for 1 1/2 years and trained on a 105 mm
howitzer cannon and .50-caliber machine guns.
As a child, he delivered the Lincoln Courier from
1935 to 1937. He worked at the Gresham Saw Mill for
his father and brother Bill, running a bulldozer.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's
