LINCOLN -- Josephine C. Andrews, 79, of Lincoln died
Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at 3:55 a.m. at the Christian
Village.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at
Peasley Funeral Home. Prior to visitation, there will be a
prayer service at 4:45.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Thursday at
Holy Family Church, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.
Mrs. Andrews and her husband owned and operated the Gem
Restaurant in Lincoln for 39 years.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1927, in Lincoln to Julius and
Gisela Baldin Danosky. She married Peter C. Andrews in
Lincoln on Oct. 12, 1946. He died in Lincoln on March 28,
2003.
Mrs. Andrews is survived by four children, George (and
Sandra) Andrews of Peoria, Michael (and Kathy) Andrews of
Springfield, Kathleen (and Earl) Kirshner of Chicago and
John (and Debbie) Andrews of Lincoln; one brother, Tony (and
JoAnn) Danosky of Winfield; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Danosky
of Lincoln; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers.
She was a member of Holy Family Church, Holy Family
Society, Daughters of Isabella, Zonta Club, AMVETS, VFW
Auxiliary and Emblem Club 433.
Memorials may be made for Masses for family members and
deceased family members or to the American Legion Building
Fund.

LINCOLN -- Rose Guzzardo, 91, of Lincoln died at 2 a.m.
Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lincoln
Christian Church. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at
the church, with Tim Searby officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
Mrs. Guzzardo was former owner and operator of Guzzardo's
Italian Villa.
She was born Jan. 17, 1915, in Coal City to John and
Josephine Saso Gervase. She married Dominic "Doc" Guzzardo
on Aug. 9, 1941, at La Grange. He died Feb. 27, 1992.
She is survived by one son, John (and Frankie) Guzzardo
of Lincoln; one sister, Josephine Lobdell of Mesa, Ariz.;
five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter and
son-in-law, Grace and Bob Ware; five brothers; and three
sisters.
She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

Christian Church or to the food pantry.

LINCOLN -- Blanche M. Madigan, 89, of Lincoln died
Monday, March 6, 2006, at 3:27 p.m. at Maple Ridge Care
Centre.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral
will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the
Rev. James Cravens officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.
Mrs. Madigan was a food supervisor for state of Illinois
mental health and co-owner of the Ten Pin Bowling Alley in
Lincoln
She was born Oct. 22, 1916, in Lincoln to Grover and Eva
Lowman Field. She married Harold L. Madigan on June 29,
1941, in Lincoln. He died Sept. 28, 1999.
She is survived by four sons, Michael (and Jan) Madigan
of Chestnut, Paul Timothy (and Linda) Madigan of Quincy,
Matthew (and Joyce) Madigan of Charleston and Harold J.
Madigan of Lincoln; one brother, Robert (and Betty) Field of
Lincoln; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy
Loeber, and two brothers, Thomas and Harry J. Field.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge of Lincoln.

Association.

LINCOLN -- Melvin H. Buchholz, 52, of Lincoln died
Monday, March 6, 2006, at 2:23 p.m. on Truman Road,
Springfield.
Mr. Buchholz was an operating engineer for Merrill
Contractors, Springfield. He retired from the Lincoln
Developmental Center power plant in 2002.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. His funeral
will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Tracy
Thomas officiating.
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.
He was born April 27, 1953, in Lincoln to Melvin Henry
and Nancy Lee Buchholz. He was raised by JoAnn and Russell
Awe of Lincoln, his aunt and uncle. He married Jill Bevard
on Aug. 30, 1975, in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; one daughter,
Rachel Lee Buchholz of Lincoln; one sister, Marsha (and
Carl) Hurley and family of Lincoln; his extended family,
Nancy Awe and Donna Wyles, Jan and Jerry Pickett and family,
Joy and Mark Coyne and family, Chuck and Karen Merrill, Tom
Bevard, and many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents and his maternal
and paternal grandparents.
He was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and Operating
Engineers Local 965.
He loved the outdoors, going to the World of Outlaws
races and loved life to the fullest.

DECATUR -- Kenneth D. Turner, 65, formerly of Lincoln,
died Monday, March 6, 2006, at 9:12 a.m. at St. Mary's
Hospital in Decatur.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Quiram
Funeral Home, Atlanta. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Patrick O'Neal
officiating.
Burial will be in Mountjoy Cemetery, rural Atlanta.
He was born Feb. 19, 1941, at Lincoln to Albert and
Frances Mitchell Turner.
He is survived by two sisters, LaDonna Weindorf of Grand
Rapids, Mich., and Abby (and Charles) Bode of Warrensburg;
two nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Special
Olympics, Illinois Central Area 10.
Alan Tapper

LINCOLN -- Alan Ray Tapper, 55, of Lincoln died Saturday,
March 4, 2006, at 5:35 p.m. at home with his family.
A memorial gathering will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at
Bennett Funeral Home.
Private family services will be conducted earlier, with
Tracy Thomas officiating.
For the past 15 years Mr. Tapper had been owner, vice
president and general manager of Heritage Packaging
Corporation. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad
as a brakeman and conductor from May of 1970 until January
of 1990. He also bred and raised American quarter horses
from 1975 to the present.
He was born Oct. 16, 1950, in Galesburg to Raymond E. and
Shirley Gladfelter Tapper. He married Marilyn Shipp in
Galesburg on Aug. 28, 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Tapper of Lincoln;
one son, Matthew Tapper of Lincoln; his father, of
Galesburg; and one sister, Jeanne Collier Lampson (and her
husband, Mike) of Galesburg.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one son, Cash
Raymond Tapper.
He was a member of Lincoln Elks Club 914 for 16 years and
served as president in 1995. He was a member of the United
Transportation Union, the Association of Independent
Corrugated Converters and the American Quarter Horse
Association.
He coached and assisted in coaching all of his sons'
sporting activities, including soccer, baseball, basketball
and ice hockey.
He graduated from Galesburg Senior High School in 1968
and attended Carl Sandburg College.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the
Lincoln Park District Tapper Memorial Fund at 1400 Primm
Road, Lincoln, IL 62656, or will be accepted at the funeral
home.

PAXTON -- George W. Stedwell, 82, of Paxton died Saturday,
March 4, 2006, at 1:09 p.m. at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson
City.
There will be a private family service in Atlanta
Cemetery.
Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, handled arrangements.
Mr. Stedwell retired after 37 years of civil service: 17
years in aircraft maintenance and 20 years as an instructor
supervisor and master instructor in jet engine technology at
Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul. He was a licensed A&P
mechanic.
He was an Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force veteran of
World War II and Korea.
He was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to George W.
and Grace N. Havens Stedwell. He married Geneva L. McLean in
May 1947 in Champaign.
He is survived by his wife; four children, George Lee
Stedwell of Peru, Ind., Charles William Stedwell of
Champaign, Janet S. Brown of Atlanta and Katherine M. Miller
of Elmhurst; and eight grandchildren.
He was a lifetime member of Christ Episcopal Church, Glen
Ridge, N.J. He was a charter member of the World War II
Memorial Society, a member of the National Association of
Retired Federal Employees, AARP, National Railway Historical
Association, National Rifle Association, Farm Bureau and
Atlanta American Legion.
He graduated from Glen Ridge High School in New Jersey;
Casey Jones School of Aeronautics, Newark, N.J.; Pratt and
Whitney Service School, Hartford, Conn.; and Parks Air
College, East St. Louis.
His hobbies were model railroading, hunting, fishing and
gardening.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Philip Kohler

LINCOLN -- Philip S. Kohler, 90, of Lincoln died
Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 11:24 a.m. at St. John's
Hospital in Springfield.
A graveside service and military rites will be at 1 p.m.
Saturday, March 11, at New Union Cemetery.
There is no visitation.
Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
Mr. Kohler worked in maintenance at Cutler-Hammer for 17
years.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945.
He was born Dec. 31, 1915, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Philip
and Agnes Marie Metcalf Kohler. He married Bernice Spurling
in 1954 in St. Joseph, Mo. She died in 2000.
He was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Dorothy
Krotz.
He is survived by a niece, Donna Wright of Lincoln.
He was a Catholic.

LINCOLN -- Dorothy M. Warnisher, 87, of Lincoln died
Saturday, March 4, 2006, at 12:15 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor.
Visitation was on Monday at Peasley
Funeral Home.
Her funeral Mass was Tuesday morning at
Holy Family Church, with the Rev. R. Anthony Lee
officiating.
Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mrs. Warnisher was a telephone operator for 35 years. She
retired in December of 1979.
She was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Lincoln to Fred and Anna
Feldman Eimer. She married Vincent G. Warnisher on Oct. 14,
1944, in Lincoln. He died Dec. 28, 1996.
She is survived by two sons, Vincent E. "Gene" (and
Linda) Warnisher of Springfield and Joseph F. (and Susanne)
Warnisher of Moore, Okla.; five grandchildren, JoAnne (and
Monty) Piper of Blanchard, Okla., Tamara Wallace of Oklahoma
City, Okla., Chance (and Patsy) Warnisher of Rosamond, Cole
(and Tonya) Warnisher of Lincoln and Clint (and Jennifer)
Warnisher of Williamsville; 10 great-grandchildren; three
brothers, Richard Eimer of Lincoln, Robert (and Patricia)
Eimer of Belleville, Tom (and Margaret) Eimer of Lincoln;
and one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" (and Kenneth) Kinney of
Lincoln.
She was also preceded in death by an infant brother.
She was a member of Holy Family Church, Holy Family
Society and Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

American Cancer Society.
