A large crowd attended the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency public hearing at Hartsburg-Emden High School on Wednesday evening. The hearing was part of the required procedures before permits can be issued to Illini Bio-Energy to construct an ethanol plant. The company chose a site a half-mile northwest of Hartsburg on 800th Avenue.     [picture by Jan Youngquist] click on picture for larger image
