[SEPT. 18, 2006]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Aaron P. Riggs, 77, of Mount Pulaski died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at 7:05 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Mark Drew officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Mr. Riggs was a retired trucker and grain elevator operator.

He was a veteran.

He was born May 12, 1929, in Delavan to Howard and Ermel Kutz Riggs. He married Gertrude Maxheimer in Mount Pulaski on Sept. 14, 1958.

He is survived by his wife, of Mount Pulaski; three daughters, Jean (and Gary) Baumhardt of Normal, Judith (and Charles) Noteboom of Hurst, Texas, and Melanie Riggs and companion Clayton George of Lincoln; two sisters, Virginia Casto of Roseville, Mich., and Dorothy Haseley of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, Alissa Simms, Matthew Baumhardt, Cory Baumhardt, Jared Baumhardt, Austin Noteboom, Lindsey Noteboom, Shane Noteboom, Conner Noteboom and Chelsey George; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph Ellis Simms and Madeleine Elise Simms.

One sister and one brother preceded him in death.

He was a member of Mount Pulaski Zion Lutheran Church, a 50-year member of American Legion Post 447 and a 35-year member of the Midwest Truckers Association of Illinois.

Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 447, Zion Lutheran Church of Mount Pulaski or the American Cancer Society.
