[SEPT. 18, 2006]
ST. LOUIS -- For the second straight week a
member of the Illinois State defensive unit was named the Gateway
Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as senior
linebacker
Cameron Siskowic was selected by the league office on Sunday.

The 2006 Buck Buchanan Award candidate offered 22 reasons to be
considered for the honor, as Siskowic collected a career-best and
game-high 22 tackles in the 44-30 win over No. 18 Eastern Illinois.
He also added a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry during the
game. With his 22 tackles, including 14 that came in the second
half, Siskowic notched the most stops by a Redbird since Gean Gilot
collected 23 tackles against Western Kentucky in 2003.
Siskowic now has 45 tackles on the season, which not only leads
the Gateway, but all of I-AA. His weekly honor, the first of his
career, marked the fourth by the Redbirds this season.
