Anna 'Louise' Harmsen

[SEPT. 21, 2006]  EMDEN -- Anna "Louise" Harmsen, 99, of Emden died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at 12:36 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David L. Hofer officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln handled arrangements.

Mrs. Harmsen farmed with her husband until his death and then worked as a seamstress at the Odd Fellows Children's Home in Lincoln for a number of years.

She was born May 24, 1907, near Pekin to Adam and Louise Fauth Hoerbert. She married Walter Harmsen on June 15, 1929, at Emden, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1962.

She is survived by one son, Walter Allen (Marilyn) Harmsen of Emden; two daughters, Rose Mary (and Ben) Conrady of Lincoln and Julia (and Robert) Cross of Emden; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Rae Pegram; three brothers, Alfred Hoerbert, Maurice Hoerbert and Bill Hoerbert; and four sisters, Clara Buse, Elizabeth Schleder, Rose Bergman and Gertrude Kutz

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and Cross and Crown circles of the church, and the Emden Homemakers Extension Unit.

She graduated from Hartsburg High School in 1926.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
