[April 02, 2007]  DECATUR -- Mary Edna Centers, 93, of Decatur, formerly of Latham, died Saturday, March 31, 2007, at 2:27 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Latham Baptist Church, with the Rev. Matthew Neale officiating.

Burial will be in Lake Bank Cemetery, Latham.

Mrs. Centers was a homemaker.

She was born Aug. 8, 1913, at rural Mount Auburn to William Harvey and Iva Pearl Ball Carr. She marred Merlin James Centers on May 27, 1960, in Arkansas, and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by one stepson, Chuck (and Dian) Centers of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Mary Ann Pyne of Owensboro, Ky.; a stepdaughter-in-law, Dorothy Comerford Centers; five grandchildren and nine stepgrandchildren, including Ricky (and Vicki) Harrell of Owensboro, Ky., Cathy (Martin) Kinney of Louisville, Ky., Lisa (and DeWayne) Cox of Corydon, Ind., Cami (and Chuck) Wexler of Corydon, Ind., Greg (and Billie Jo) Centers of Decatur, Todd (and Theresa) Centers of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Branwen (and Adam) Stenger of Decatur, Stacia Clements of Texas and Megan (and Chuck) Mazokopos of Wayland, Mass.; nine great-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Irene Skaggs; one son Harvey Anton; one stepson, Gary Centers; and one stepdaughter, Willa Mae Centers Yagow.

She was a member of Latham Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Latham Baptist Church or Latham Fire and Rescue.
