Mildred Brown

[December 10, 2007]  ATLANTA -- Mildred M. Brown, 93, of Lenexa, Kan., formerly of Atlanta, died at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at Sunrise of Lenexa in Lenexa, Kan.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Maurice Stribling will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 25, 1913, in rural Roodhouse, Greene County, to George W. and Dollie G. Boston Steelman. She married Basil H. Brown on March 6, 1937, in Indiana. He preceded her in death in December 1971.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Dolan of Lenexa, Kan.; one brother, Glenn (and Ella Dee) Steelman of Bushnell; a sister-in-law, Eileen Steelman of Glasglow; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers.

She was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church and attended the White Hall First Baptist Church. She was a 57-year member of the Lincoln Chapter of Order of Eastern Star (now Lalla Rookh Chapter in Springfield), where she was a former worthy matron.

Memorials may be made to Atlanta Christian Church or White Hall First Baptist Church.
