[December 10, 2007]  David J. Gonzalez, 81, of Lincoln died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at 8:45 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Greg Wooten officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

Mr. Gonzalez was employed at Saint Gobain for 40 years and retired as a line worker.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was born Aug. 18, 1926, at Pine Grove, Pa., to Joseph A. and Leona Dorothy Horney Gonzalez. He married Edna Jean Overby in Lincoln. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2001.

He is survived by three daughters, Kimberly (and Kevin) Beeson of Pana, Rebecca (and Mark) Kleinman of Lincoln and Lisa (and Tom) Rippon of Lincoln ; three sisters, Mary Isabel (and Dean) Vahle of Canton, Alberta M. "Penny" Griffith of Lincoln and Cleona (and Laverne) V. Olmstead of Pekin; and seven grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He was a member of Lincoln Church of the Nazarene.

Memorials may be made to his church or to Memorial Home Services (hospice) of Springfield.
