Rev. Dr. Paul L. Salansky to preach in honor of the Lincoln Presbyterian Sesquicentennial          Send a link to a friend

[September 26, 2007]  In conjunction with the First Presbyterian Church's sesquicentennial celebration, the Rev. Dr. Paul L. Salansky, former pastor of the Lincoln church, will preach at the Sept. 30 worship service. He was invited to participate in the special sesquicentennial worship service on Feb. 11 but was unable to attend at that time. The congregation is honored to have him return to the pulpit and the community for this special celebration year.

Pastor Salansky served the First Presbyterian Church for 10 years after being called by the congregation to become its pastor on June 20, 1965. He and his wife, Betty, and family Tim, Paul, Tom, Julie and Philip made their home in the manse that was located on Minder Drive.

He accepted a call to serve the First Presbyterian Church in Downers Grove in 1975 and served there until his retirement 15 years later. He currently resides in Oswego, wintering in Arizona. He also serves as supply pastor for various churches.

He received his Master of Theology degree from Pittsburgh/Xenia Theological Seminary. He served Iowa congregations near Red Oak and in Reinbeck and also served at South Shores Presbyterian Church in Chicago before coming to Lincoln.

In 1967, Lincoln College conferred upon him the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity. He later enrolled in the graduate program of McCormick Theological Seminary and attained a Doctor of Divinity degree.

The members of the church invite and welcome friends in the community to join in worship and hear Pastor Salansky speak at the 10 a.m. service on Sunday. There will be a public reception in the fellowship hall for the Salansky family following the special service.
