His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Shrader
Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust St. in Arcola, with the
Rev. Donald Winch officiating. Visitation will be
from 9 a.m. until the service time. A graveside
committal service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zion
Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr. Scott taught in Clifton for two years, in
Mount Pulaski for one year, and was the band teacher
and director at Arcola High School for 27 years.
He was born June 29, 1926, in Ottawa to Alonzo
and Ruth Mang Scott. He married Elise Singer, the
love of his life, on Aug. 9, 1953, in Sycamore.
He is survived by his wife; one brother, Herb
(and wife Dolly) Scott of Houston, Texas; and a
niece, Kay Scott of Texas.
He was a member of the Arcola Presbyterian
Church, where he had served as an elder. He was also
a member of the Arcola Education Association,
Illinois Education Association, Music Educators
National Association, a life member of the Lincoln
AF&AM Lodge 210 and a member of the Valley of
Bloomington Consistory.
He graduated from Lincoln High School and
attended Lincoln College for one year. He received
his bachelor's degree in music from Illinois
Wesleyan and his master's degree from the University
of Illinois. |
He played saxophone, clarinet and piano in his band
and other bands. He loved music, especially jazz
concerts, and enjoyed theater in both New York City
and Chicago.
He loved to travel with his wife all over the
United States and enjoyed his yard, his roses, and
photography.
