[July 29, 2010] 

Accidents

July 27

Accident occurred on South State Street, 97 feet north of Seventh, at 8:29 p.m.

  • Lowe, Rebecca J., 22-year-old female, Lincoln; 1999 Buick LeSabre Custom

  • Lewis, Lorraine, 52-year-old female, Lincoln; 2000 Chevrolet Blazer owned by Leroy H. Somers

Lowe said she was southbound on State Street, coming up behind the Lewis vehicle, which was parked along the street. Lowe attempted to swerve to avoid the vehicle but said that her wheels would not turn. She rear-ended the parked vehicle.

Both Lowe and Lewis received citations in this incident.

Lowe was taken to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital by Logan County Paramedics.

July 27

Accident occurred at the intersection of Woodlawn Road and Lincoln Parkway at 5:06 p.m.

  • Merriman, Miranda B., 23-year-old female, New Holland; 2003 Ford Expedition

  • Billington, Susan A., 51-year-old female, Lincoln; 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix

Billington was westbound on Woodlawn and had the green light to pass through the intersection. Merriman was at the intersection, eastbound on Woodlawn and preparing to turn left onto Lincoln Parkway. She said that she did not have the green turn arrow but thought she had sufficient time to turn in front of Billington. She misjudged and struck the Billington vehicle on the driver’s-side front quarter panel.

Merriman received a citation for failure to yield the right of way when turning left.

July 27

Accident occurred in the 600 block of Sixth Street at 12:57 p.m.

  • Golden, James A., 28-year-old male, Lincoln; 1993 Ford Ranger

  • Kirk, Mariann Opal, 46-year-old female, Lincoln; 1995 Ford Explorer

Golden told police that he had parked his vehicle in front of his residence. He exited the vehicle, believing it was in "park." However, it was in gear and immediately rolled away, crossing from the north side of the street to the south side and striking the unattended vehicle belonging to Kirk.

Golden was ticketed as the owner of an "unattended vehicle left illegally."

July 28

Accident occurred at the intersection of 21st Street and North Monroe at 1:11 p.m.

  • Satterfield, Nicholas M., 56-year-old male, Lincoln; 2004 Honda CR-V LX

  • Kirk, Jerry, 62-year-old, Lincoln; 1994 Ford Tempo

Satterfield said he was turning right from Monroe onto 21st Street and turned too wide, striking the oncoming vehicle of Kirk in the front.

Both parties were transported to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital by Logan County Paramedics.

Satterfield was ticketed in this incident.

Lincoln Police Department reports for Thursday, July 29

  • Antunez, Paula M., 31-year-old female, of Lincoln, arrested in the 700 block of West Feldman on Class A charge of driving with a license suspended.

  • Richmond, Walter L., 29-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested July 28 at his residence on a Class A charge of domestic battery plus a McLean County warrant for failure to appear on charge of driving with a license suspended.

Logan County Sheriff's Department reports for Thursday, July 29

Illinois State Police report for Thursday, July 29

  • Schuerman, Dawn M., 42-year-old female, of Decatur, arrested July 26 in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 at the 113 mile marker on a Macon County warrant for failure to appear. Bond was set at $200 cash. Vehicle was towed from the scene.

Illinois Department of Corrections arrest for Thursday, July 29

  • Babbitt, Brenda A., 35-year-old female, of Lincoln, arrested on July 28 at her residence on a Sangamon County warrant for failure to appear on charges of theft. Bond was set at $3,000, 10 percent.
