Gloria Luster, John Stewart and Terry Werth did not seek new terms
in the recent election. A collective body of information will be
lost with these retirements as each member has served multiple board
terms.
A reception in their honor will follow the adjourned session.
The November adjourned session is typically the last voting
session of the full board each month. However, the board will also
see another significant change. JoAnne Marlin, administrative
assistant for the county board, announced her retirement as of Dec.
31.
Advertisements for that position have gone out. In order to hire
someone and allow time for that person to be trained, the board has
scheduled two special meetings at the end of this month.
The first meeting will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 30 to review
applications for the administrative position. The board will meet
again at 6:30 on Dec. 1 with the intent to interview and hire
someone for the position.
At 9 a.m. on Dec. 6, local officials elected on Nov. 2 will
officially be sworn in to their positions. The ceremony will be in
the third-floor courtroom at the Logan County Courthouse.
The new county board will then convene in the courthouse at 10
a.m. for an organizational meeting that sets up structure and
special duties for the next two years.
Three of the six to be sworn to county board positions will be
new to the board: M.E. "Gene" Rohlfs, District 4; Arthur "Andy"
Anderson, District 5; and Andrew L. Meister, District 3.
Kevin Bateman of District 6 won his first election. Bateman had
been appointed to fill the unexpired term of Michael McIntosh after
McIntosh won the state's attorney position two years ago.

To be sworn to the board for additional four-year terms will be
Charles "Chuck" Ruben for District 1 and Robert "Bob" Farmer for
District 2.
The newly elected and re-elected officials join the following
board members who each have two years remaining: Bill Martin,
District 1; Jan Schumacher, District 2; Rick Aylesworth, District 3;
David Hepler, District 4; Patrick "Pat" O'Neill and Terry Carlton,
District 6.
Other Logan County officials to be sworn to office for four-year
terms on Dec. 6 are Sally Litterly, clerk and recorder; Vicki L.
Dugan, treasurer; Steven Nichols, sheriff; and Jean Anderson,
regional superintendent of schools.
Mary Kelley was elected to fill the remainder of the two-year
term of the former circuit clerk, Carla Bender. Bender accepted a
similar state position just after the last election.
