Accidents

Aug. 26, 3:01 p.m.

Accident occurred at North Kickapoo and Keokuk streets.

  • Drummond, Christopher W., 30-year-old male, of Lincoln; 2002 Ford Taurus SE

  • Frazier, Berdine, 59, Atlanta; 2002 Buick Century

Drummond was southbound on Kickapoo, approaching Keokuk, when he reached for his GPS system on the dash. Looking away, he did not see that the Frazier vehicle had stopped at the traffic light. He was unable to stop in time to avoid striking Frazier. Drummond rear-ended the Frazier vehicle, pushing it into a vehicle in front of it. The driver of the third vehicle involved in this accident was not named.

Drummond was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Frazier was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle.

Aug. 29, 1:20 p.m.

Accident occurred in a church parking lot on Hamilton Street.

  • Driver one -- underage, without driver's license

  • Driver two -- licensed driver under the age of 18

Driver one was moving a vehicle in a church parking lot. While attempting to pull up beside driver two, driver one sideswiped the other vehicle.

Aug. 30, 3:37 p.m.

Accident occurred on Woodlawn Road at North College.

  • Parker, Roy V., 84-year-old male, Lincoln; 2006 Buick LaCrosse

  • Foley, Timothy D., 19-year-old male, Lincoln; 2001 Chevrolet C/K 2500 Crew Cab pick-up

Foley was southbound on College. He turned east when the turn arrow showed green at the intersection. Parker was northbound on College and turned east also. Foley was on the inside lane and Parker on the outside lane. Parker then crossed into the inside lane, striking the Foley vehicle.

Parker was ticketed for improper lane usage.

Aug. 31, 12:35 p.m.

Accident occurred on Woodlawn Road at Malerich Drive.

  • Thomas, Seth R., 30-year-old male, Lincoln; 2003 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab

  • Purviance, Sharon K., 68-year-old female, Lincoln; 2001 Lincoln LS

Thomas was westbound on Woodlawn, approaching Malerich Drive. He said that he was looking to the south at some construction work going on. When he looked back to the road, he saw that the light had turned red and that Purviance was already stopped. He said that he attempted to stop but was unable to, thus rear-ending the Purviance vehicle. Purviance was transported to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital by the Logan County Paramedics.

Thomas was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Sept. 1, 1 p.m.

Accident occurred on Woodlawn Road at Madigan Drive.

  • Vannoy, Stella M., 88-year-old female, Lincoln; 2003 Ford Taurus SE

  • Rohrer, Arthur D., 78-year-old male, Lincoln; 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 4x2

Rohrer was southbound on Madigan at Woodlawn. He said that he had a green turn light to go west. He indicated that he was fourth in the line of vehicles turning, and as he proceeded into the intersection to negotiate his turn, he was struck by the Vannoy vehicle.

Vannoy was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions and failure to yield the right of way.

Sept. 2, 1:50 p.m.

Accident occurred in the 300 block of Ninth Street, 200 feet west of North Elm.

  • Turner, Stephanie N., 29-year-old female of Lincoln; 2000 Dodge Ram pickup

  • Kelley, Debra A., 51-year-old female of Lincoln; 2000 Pontiac Sunfire

The Kelley vehicle was parked unattended just off the alley, facing southbound in the 300 block of Ninth. Turner said that she was in the alley, also southbound, preparing to turn right. She misjudged the distance and clipped the front driver's-side corner of the Turner vehicle.

Sept. 2, 5:23 p.m.

Accident occurred at the intersection of North Kickapoo and Pekin streets.

  • Crews, Thomas E., 70-year-old male, Lincoln; 2001 Buick LeSabre

  • Robinson, Debra L., 53-year-old female, Lincoln; 1996 Honda Accord

Robinson was westbound at the four-way stop of the intersection, while Crews was southbound approaching the intersection. Robinson stopped, then proceeded into the intersection. Crews rolled through the stop and the two collided. Robinson said that she saw Crews, but assumed he would stop.

Crews was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.

Sept. 3, 4:05 p.m.

Accident occurred at Fourth and South College.

  • Lucas, Amanda L., 26-year-old female, Lincoln; 2003 Cadillac CTS

  • Buss, Donald L., 74-year-old male, Kenney; 1987 Suzuki Samurai

Buss was eastbound on Fourth Street, approaching College Street. He said that he saw Lucas pull up to the stop sign at the intersection, facing south. He said that Lucas stopped and then proceeded into the intersection. Buss said he was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the Lucas vehicle.

Lucas was ticketed for failure to yield at a stop or intersection, and Buss received a ticket for operating an uninsured vehicle.

Sept. 3, 4:07 p.m.

Accident occurred at the intersection of Kankakee and Keokuk streets.

  • Driver one -- licensed driver under the age of 18

  • Schacht, Rosemary J., 79, Lincoln; 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Driver one was stopped on Kankakee at Keokuk and saw the Schacht vehicle coming from the west with its turn signal on. Driver one said it appeared that Schacht was going to turn onto Kankakee; therefore, driver one proceeded to make a right-hand turn but entered the path of the Schacht vehicle. Schacht said that she did have her turn signal on, as she was going to turn right on Logan Street.

Driver one was ticked for failure to yield the right of way.

Sept. 3, 5:23 p.m.

Accident occurred on Pulaski Street 500 feet east of Tulip Drive.

  • French, Patricia A., 61-year-old female, Lincoln; 1997 Buick Century Limited

  • Cisco, Robert W., 46-year-old male, Lincoln; 1996 Dodge Stratus

The Cisco vehicle was eastbound in the 1500 block of Pulaski, preparing to turn left into a private driveway so that he could turn around. Cisco said he had his signal on. French said she saw that the Cisco vehicle was slowing down but believed that the driver was preparing to pull to the right side of the street and park. She attempted to pass Cisco just as he was navigating his turn and struck him.

French was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions and failure to reduce speed. Cisco was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle.

Lincoln Police Department report for Tuesday, Sept. 7

  • Altman, Larry J., 19-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 3 at the intersection of Lincoln Parkway and Fifth Street on a Logan County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of a city ordinance violation. Bond was set at $1,500, 10 percent.

  • Baker, Shane M., 27-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 5 in the 200 block of North Sangamon Street on Class A charge of theft.

  • Coppinger, Todd, 18-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested on Sept. 5 on Woodlawn on Class A charge of driving with a license suspended.

  • Franklin, Stephen J., 24-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 4 in the emergency room of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital on Class A charge of domestic battery.

  • Fulk, Eli J., 23-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 3 at the intersection of Fifth and Main on a Logan County warrant for failure to appear in small claims court. Bond was set at $250 cash.

  • Jones, Brandi N., 21-year-old female, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 4 on North Madison on a Logan County warrant charging failure to appear. Bond was set at $350 cash.

  • Last, Jeffery K., 49-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 4 at the intersection of Kickapoo and Keokuk on Class A charges of driving under the influence, driving under the influence of alcohol with a reading exceeding 0.08 and possession of drug paraphernalia. Vehicle was towed from the scene.

  • Leith, Amanda L., 27-year-old female of Atlanta, arrested Sept. 3, on Lincoln Parkway at Short 11th Street on Class A charge of driving with license suspended.

  • Meyers, Steven M., 27-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 3 at the intersection of Pekin and Beason streets on a Kane County warrant charging contempt of court and other issues related to drugs. Bond was set at $350 cash.

  • Power, Eric L., 33-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 6 at the intersection of North Monroe and Short 11th streets on Class A charge of driving with license that has been expired for more than one year.

  • Strong, Ruth, 20-year-old female, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 6 in the 100 block of North Kickapoo on a Logan County warrant for failure to appear. Bond was set at $1,000, 10 percent.

Logan County Sheriff's Department report for Tuesday, Sept. 7

  • Detmers, Glen R., 27-year-old male, of Emden, arrested Sept. 3 on Illinois Route 121 at Second Street in Hartsburg on Logan County warrants for failure to appear on several charges: driving under the influence, driving under the influence of alcohol with a test level exceeding 0.08, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis less that 2.5 grams. Bonds were set at $6,000 collectively, all 10 percent payable.

  • Good, Joshua E., 29-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 6 at the intersection of Logan and Keokuk streets on two Logan County warrants for failure to appear. Total bond was set at $4,500, 10 percent.

  • Guise, Terrance E., 31-year-old male, of Bloomington, Ind., arrested Sept. 3 at the Macon-Logan County line near Latham on a Logan County warrant charging failure to appear on multiple charges, including theft. Bond was set at $3,000, 10 percent.

  • Miller, Nathan C., 28-year-old male, of Marissa, was arrested Sept. 4 on Illinois Route 121 at 2200 Avenue near Latham on a U.S. Marshal's warrant for a probation violation. Miller was held without bond.

Mount Pulaski Police report for Tuesday, Sept. 7

  • Newhaus, James R., 27-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 3 in the 500 block of South Spring Street in Mount Pulaski on Class B charge of trespass. Bond was set at $1,000, 10 percent.

Illinois State Police report for Tuesday, Sept. 7

  • Rice, Randy E., 30-year-old male, of Springfield, was arrested Sept. 4 in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 at the 113 mile marker on multiple charges, including driving under the influence. Vehicle was towed from the scene.
