On
Sept. 17 and 18 Main Street Lincoln will host the first
“Honest Abe's Barbeque Cookout” on Lincoln's downtown square.
Tuesday evening the contestants for the cook-off gathered at the
Main Street Lincoln office to discuss how the meat for the
contest will be distributed, how the judging will be conducted,
and to voice any questions or concerns they might have about the
first-ever event. Eight teams will be vying for the prize
of local master griller.

not running for re-election. Daley was elected to the state Senate in 1972 and
as Cook County state's attorney in 1980. He became Chicago mayor in 1989 when he
