[September 13, 2010] 

Accidents

Sept 7, 2:42 p.m.

Accident occurred on Broadway, 177 east of Ottawa Street, at Lincoln Junior High School.

  • Coleman, Rita Luan, 45-year-old female, Lincoln; 2009 IC Corp. bus

  • Broughton, Virginia R., 75-year-old female, Lincoln; 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

Broughton was inside her parked vehicle in front of Lincoln Junior High School. Coleman pulled beside Broughton in an attempt to park in front of her car but sideswiped the Broughton vehicle.

Coleman was ticketed for improper lane usage.

Sept. 7, 6:30 p.m.

Accident occurred on North Logan and Keokuk.

  • Lowery, Robert A., 61-year-old male, Lincoln; 2010 Honda SH150D motorcycle

Lowery was eastbound on Keokuk, preparing for a right turn onto Logan. He told police that he was temporarily blinded by the sun and took the corner too sharp, hitting the curb. Lowery was thrown from the motorcycle. He was taken by Logan County Paramedics to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Sept. 9, 7:55 a.m.

Accident occurred on Fifth Street, 21 feet west of South Union.

  • Hodgson, Calvin G., 40-year-old male, Kilbourne; 2003 Ford Taurus

  • Heyen, Lori Ann, 37-year-old female, Beason; 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Heyen said she was eastbound on Fifth Street, stopped behind a vehicle that was waiting to turn left onto Union, when Hodgson rear-ended her.

Hodgson said he did not realize Heyen was stopped until it was too late. He tried to stop but was unable to do so.

Hodgson was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

Sept. 9, 10:15 a.m.

Accident occurred in the 1300 block of Fifth Street, at the 5th Street Food Mart location.

  • Becker, Brandon D., 19-year-old male, of Lincoln; 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab

Becker said he was parked at the food mart. When he came out of the store and back to his vehicle, he noted that there was a dent on the driver's side. He told police he recalled a gray car being parked next to him but did not know the make or model.

Sept. 9, 4:49 p.m.

Accident occurred on Woodlawn at Palmer Avenue.

  • Sandel, Sarah, 22-year-old female, Lincoln; 2006 Pontiac Gran Prix

  • Tibbs, Brenda G., 42-year-old female, Lincoln; 1999 Lincoln Town Car

Tibbs was stopped in the eastbound lanes of Woodlawn Road, waiting to turn onto Palmer Avenue. Sandel said she saw too late that Tibbs was stopped. Sandel attempted to stop before hitting the other vehicle but was unable to.

Both women were taken to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital by Logan County Paramedics.

Sandel was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Sept. 9, 6 p.m.

Accident occurred in the 100 block of Heinzel Court, 190 feet south of 14th Street.

  • Trail, David C., 67-year-old male, Lincoln; 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Trail told police that he left his car parked, unattended, on Heinzel Court at approximately 6 p.m. When he returned an hour later, he noted that it had been struck by an unknown vehicle. It appeared that a vehicle had backed into the Heinzel auto, according to the police report.

Sept. 11, 11 a.m.

Accident occurred on South Madison, 147 feet south of Second Street.

  • Fulk, Autumn B., 19-year-old female, Lincoln; 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt

Fulk told police that she had left her car parked, unattended, and when she returned she noted that it had been sideswiped by an unknown driver.

Lincoln Police Department report for Monday, Sept. 13

  • Agee, Brian A., 20-year-old male, of Maroa, arrested Sept. 12 at Chad's Blind on Fifth Street on Class A charge of criminal damage to property less than $300 and Class A charge of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Bond was set at $1,000, 10 percent.

  • Anderson, Casey L., 28-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 13 in the 200 block of South Chicago Street on Class A charge of criminal trespass and Class C charge of disorderly conduct.

  • Ayers, Christian E., 35-year-old female, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 12 at her residence on Class A charge of domestic battery.

  • Campbell, Brandon L., 27-year-old male, of Anderson, Ind., arrested Sept. 13 in the 200 block of South Chicago on Class A charge of criminal trespass and Class C charge of disorderly conduct. Bond was set at $1,000, 10 percent.

  • Guise, Michelle R., 33-year-old female, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 11 at Taylor Court and Woodlawn Road on Class A charge of driving with a license suspended.

  • Hopson, Clarence Jr., 28-year-old male, of Springfield, arrested Sept. 10 at Family Custom Cleaners on Class B charge of criminal trespass.

  • Maple, Xzavus R., 18-year-old male, of Bloomington, arrested Sept. 12 on Lincoln Parkway at Woodlawn Road on Class A charge of driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and/or drugs.

  • Phillips, Paul A., 23-year-old male, of Springfield, arrested Sept. 12 at Chad's Blind on Fifth Street on Class 3 charge of aggravated battery

  • Shaul, Cory S., 21-year-old male, of Anderson, Ind., arrested Sept. 13 in the 200 block of South Chicago on Class A charge of criminal trespass and Class C charge of disorderly conduct. Bond was set at $1,000, 10 percent.

  • Simpson, Freddie G., 56-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 12 at his residence on Class A charge of domestic battery.

  • Shaffer, Joshua D., 30-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 11 at his residence on Class C charge of disorderly conduct.

  • Spencer, D'Marcus D., 20-year-old male, of Indianapolis, Ind., arrested Sept. 11 in the 300 block of Keokuk on Class A charge of criminal damage under $300. Bond was set at $100 cash.

  • Tripplett, William R., 34-year-old male, of Springfield, arrested Sept. 13 in the 900 block of North Madison on a Mason County warrant for failure to appear on charges of driving under the influence and improper backing. Bond was set at $5,000, 10 percent.

Logan County Sheriff's Department report for Monday, Sept. 13

  • Geriets, Joshua A., 25-year-old male, of Lincoln, arrested Sept. 10 at the Logan County Courthouse on Class 3 charge of aggravated battery/resisting a peace officer, Class A charge of resisting arrest and Class A charge of criminal trespass to state-supported property.

  • Hayes, Dominion J., 28-year-old male, of Decatur, attested Sept. 11 in the 13600 block of Illinois Route 121 on Class A charge of driving with a license suspended.

  • Wright, Roland M., 33-year-old male, of Beason, arrested at his residence on a Logan County warrant charging criminal sexual assault. Bond was set at $25,000, 10 percent.
