[September 16, 2011]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Derek Matthew Ricketts, of Bradenton, Fla., died Sept. 9, 2011, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fla.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Schleeter conducting the service.

Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery.

Derek was born March 24, 1978, in Bloomington to John W. and Linda "Lin" Humphries Carter.

He is survived by his parents, of Decatur; his daughter Brooklyn Kate Ricketts of Bradenton, Fla.; one brother, David E. Ricketts of Decatur; two sisters, Tina J. (and Casey) Arvin of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Gina M. (and Ryan) Bazemore of Clearwater, Fla.; an adopted sister, Nicole Procarione of Decatur; his maternal grandmother, Martha Humphries of Normal; and his paternal grandfather, Wesley Carter of Mount Pulaski.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother.

Funeral Director

Derek loved to play golf, he had many friends, and he helped many people by being an organ donor.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
