What do you call this place? Last week when the Jason Hoffman statue "Constellation" was dedicated, Mayor Keith Snyder noted that most folks were struggling to define the location. Many referred to it just as "across the street from the Blue Dog Inn." Tuesday night Snyder said the place was very nice and he felt it deserved a name. He told the council he thought it would be fitting to name this space after two aldermen who left way too soon. He suggested the area be named Busby-Turner Park in honor of the late Buzz Busby and the late Nathan Turner. A DC-10 air tanker drops fire retardant near a home in the evening Wednesday as the Black Forest Fire continues to burn out of control for a second straight day near Colorado Springs. The fire has consumed 11,500 acres. It has destroyed 92 homes and damaged others. The erratic fire has forced the evacuation of thousands of people.

Last week at the Mount Pulaski Zion Lutheran Church and School, youngsters gathered to enjoy a week of Vacation Bible School. VBS is a great summer activity for young people. It offers them a chance to enjoy the company of other youngsters, have fun playing games and singing, and most important, gives them an opportunity to learn more about God in a child-friendly atmosphere. The Lincoln College men's basketball program announced it has signed Pattonville (Mo.) High School point guard Darren Davidson (No. 24 in the picture). Davidson is a 6-foot point guard from Overland, Mo.

Davidson is a very tough, athletic point guard who is able to do a lot of things on the court. As a senior at Pattonville, he averaged 18.5 points per game, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals and was named to the first team all-conference.
