Friday night Lincoln firefighters spent the night keeping vigil at the site of the Oasis Senior Center fire. Even though the smoke and flames were gone, there is always the possibility of a spark or flare-up, so careful watch was kept.

Largest and brightest full moon of year

As Ralph Cook was traveling to town on Friday evening, he grabbed this shot of a lightning strike right over the city of Lincoln. Cook said the time was exactly right for this to be the very strike that caused the fire at the Oasis Senior Center. While no one can say for sure that it is, they also can't say for sure that it isn't.

A young visitor to the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University in Philadelphia views an exhibition of Mark Laita's photographs of deadly snakes. Laita spent more than a year in Central America photographing rare and dangerous pythons, pit vipers, coral snakes and other serpents.

The Lincoln Heat 8U won the Lincoln tournament over the weekend by defeating Deer Creek-Mackinaw 7-6. It was the first tournament these young men have ever played in and the coaches couldn't be prouder of them.

The Lincoln Heat 8U team is made up of Bricen Gillum, Trey Schilling, Jaden Leadley, Mason Farris, Alex Schmidt, Ryan O'Donoghue, Ashton Koontz, Jude Toft, Cooper Atkins, Luke Jones, Dylan Ferguson, Darren Stevens, Wyatt Mammen and Chase McCormick.
