Alana Sorrentino of the Logan County Emergency Management Agency explains to Steve Schumacher what items everyone should have packed in the emergency preparedness kit for their home. Schumacher was attending the annual Logan County Emergency Management Agency Family Preparedness Day in Scully Park on Saturday. The event brought in visitors from around the community who were able to see the special equipment used by the various emergency service agencies in the county, and people were also given information on how to be prepared at home for emergency and disaster.

A beaten and bloody, battered man walking down the streets of Lincoln would normally be call for alarm. However, this man's wounds were not real, and he was not stopped or detained, as it was clear for all to understand his message. Paul Helmet was re-enacting Jesus' walk to his crucifixion. He carried a cross from the former Wal-Mart to the LifePointe Church of God, downtown on Pulaski Street. This would not have been an easy walk at 83 degrees and in sandals. This picture is taken on Kickapoo Street, about five blocks from his destination, at midafternoon Saturday.

LDN Magazine Rack

The Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County launched a new geocaching trail Saturday morning. Bureau board members and office staff look on as Abraham Lincoln impersonator John Walthon from Bloomington and Tom Hankins from the Central Illinois Geocaching Association cut the ribbon.

Geocachers can pick up the new Abraham Lincoln Geocaching Trail at any of
