Some members of the Salt Creek A.B.A.T.E. participated in the semiannual highway cleanup on Saturday. The Salt Creek Chapter adopted the highway section of Old 66 from Fifth Street to the southbound exit of Interstate 55. It is cleaned up in the spring and again in the fall. Due to the construction of the bridge this year, it was voted to do from Fifth Street to the bridge this spring and then from the other side of the bridge to the interstate this fall. As you can see by the number of bags in the picture, it is amazing how much trash is thrown along the highway in just that small section! And that doesn't account for what the wind blows away. We believe in taking care of our environment, as we must remember it needs to last and prosper for generations to come! Pictured from left to right are Larry Tuebner, Bev Brown, Tom Hyde, Richard Goodman and Mike Brown. Johnny Jacks also helped with the cleanup and took the picture.

Clinton High School track standout Morgan Witzke has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer at Lincoln Christian University. Morgan's sister Mykenzie is already a student at LCU. They have both expressed excitement about being together and playing soccer this fall. Read more in the story below.
