On a beautiful Friday afternoon, citizens of Elkhart celebrated the arrival of their Route 66 Scenic Byway landmark. The Village of Elkhart was once the spot where world famous child actress Shirley Temple stopped for lunch. She was well received on that day way back when, and this week she was once again well received, as the wayside signage and silhouette statue was dedicated with a ribbon cut by Mayor Lyle Fout.

Pictured left to right are Bill Kelly of the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byways, Peggy Lee, village board member, Bob Albert representing the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce, and Elkhart Mayor Lyle Fout. LDN will have more coverage on this event in a future edition.

From the office of Sally J. Turner, Logan County Clerk and Recorder:

"There is a campaign flier out that indicates our office is open on the Sunday before Election Day for voting - which is incorrect. Our office will be open from 9 to noon on Saturday November 1 for Absentee and Grace Period Registration and Voting."

The last time: Senior night for Railer football
