The
Logan County Fair opened on Sunday with the
Downstate Classic "Pick a Winner" Harness Racing.
Local veterans from all branches of service are
recognized at the opening event of the Fair each
year. This year's veterans included a strong
contingent of Marines, some Navy, and a few Army.
The 144th Army Band, Illinois Army National Guard
out of Springfield, who performed for the afternoon,
was also asked to join the Logan County patriots for
the annual photo.
The Classic continues on Monday and Tuesday at 1:30
p.m. with free grandstand admission.
