[January 27, 2015]  The office of Governor Bruce Rauner has released the list of Illinois Department of Agriculture approved sites for marijuana dispensaries as well as the list of approved cultivation companies.

The State of Illinois ruled that it would allow one cultivation company per state police district. Lincoln and Logan County is located in District 9. According to information released, Cresco Labs is the only cultivation company to have been approved in District 9 by the Department of Agriculture.

Cresco Labs is the firm that has talked with both city of Lincoln and Logan County officials regarding placement of a cultivation site on the north side of the city, near the Interstate 55 interchange. Both Logan County and the city of Lincoln have adopted zoning ordinances that would permit the center.

The applications for the dispensaries and cultivation centers were reviewed and approved by the IDOA under the Quinn Administration. However, because Governor Quinn did not act on the recommendations prior to his departure from office, the applications will now be subject to review by the Rauner administration.

A spokesman for Rauner told a Chicago news source this week that the governor's office will be conducting their own research on this matter. The statement said that the new governor wishes to "conduct a thorough legal review of the process used by the Quinn administration, and refer its findings to the Attorney General's Office.

The statement concluded, "No license will be granted until this process is thoroughly reviewed."
