Monday
evening there were some out-of-the-ordinary
decorations in the Council Chambers at Lincoln City
Hall. City Administrator Clay Johnson said the six
potato barrels in the room represented a small
number of the barrels that had been decorated by
area school children. He said students from District
27, Zion Lutheran and Chester-East Lincoln had done
the barrels in the room. The barrels will be taken
to the Community Gardens throughout Lincoln where
they will be used to collect rainwater.

On Monday evening, some may have
noticed a particularly clear and bright moon in the eastward
sky. It was the eve of the Strawberry Moon. According the
local weather buff Devin Biggs, the fullest moon occurred at
11:49 a.m. Tuesday morning, but what he caught on camera
Monday night looks pretty full as well. In the days prior to
computers and advanced science, farmers used the signs of
the moon to perform certain tasks. The full moon in June
indicated that it was time to pick strawberries, thus it was
called the "Strawberry Moon."

LINCOLN
- While it has been a mild spring with few extreme weather
events or heavy rains, this National Weather Service
precipitation map indicates that two to three inches rain
fell across central Illinois in the past seven days, mostly
on Friday.
http://water.weather.gov/precip/ As seen in
Kickapoo Creek Park mid-day on Sunday, though water had
receded about eight inches, it still tickled the tops
of banks.
