On
Monday the Lincoln and Mount Pulaski Communities
turned out in large numbers to show respect for our
fallen heroes. Annual Memorial Day observances were
held at the Lincoln American Legion Post 263, the
Mount Pulaski Cemetery, the Steenbergen Cemetery in
Mount Pulaski and Christian Village in Lincoln.
Lincoln Daily News will bring you the American
Legion and Mount Pulaski Cemetery today, and
Steenbergen Cemetery and the Christian Village on
Tuesday.

In
celebration of the 30th anniversary of the “The Breakfast
Club,” fans of the iconic movie will have the unique
opportunity to own a piece of the show’s history when the
State of Illinois launches an exclusive online auction of a
limited number of theater seats from the actual movie set
throughout the month of June. The Illinois Department
of Central Management Services (CMS), together with the
Illinois Film Office, announced plans to auction 30 chairs
from the actual theater shown in the opening scene of the
movie on the state of Illinois’ iBid website.

On
Saturday LCHS Junior Austin Swarts, Son of T.J. Swarts
of Lincoln and Nikole Swarts of Lincoln, competed in the
Submission Challenge League's Minnesota Submission
Fighting Championship in Minneapolis.
Austin competed in the All-teens Master Skill level
division. Austin fought three times winning his first
fight by submission via triangle choke. He was
victorious in his second fight via Anaconda choke and
won the championship fight once again by way of a
triangle choke.
This is Austin's 5th State Submission Fighting
Championship. Austin trains with Team Atlas MMA and
coach Jake Bell in Springfield.
