On Monday in front of the Logan Courthouse,
Democratic nominee Junius P. Rodriguez announced his
run for 18th congressional district. On this "Launch
Day" he and his campaign team began at 9 a.m. in
Eureka, where he is a professor of history at Eureka
College. Logan County was the second of three stops
in what Rodriguez promises will be one of the most
vigorous campaigns for the 18th District seen in the
history of Illinois. By campaign's end they will
have visited every county in the 18th. Watch LDN for
							a future article.

						Logan County Tourism
Bureau may be de-funded by city of LincolnThe city of Lincoln will investigate the feasibility of
de-funding the Logan County Tourism Bureau and creating a
new bureau under city governance.  The city provides funding
to the bureau through the hotel/motel taxes collected from
motels in the city limits.  Monday night, prompted by
Aldermen Rick Hoefle and Tracy Welch, the Lincoln City
Council directed City Administrator Clay Johnson and City
Attorney Blinn Bates to investigate what it would take to
create a new bureau under the governance of the city.  The
council voted to fund the current Bureau for three months
while research is being done.  Lincoln Daily News will have
complete details in its Wednesday edition.
