Center, Former Superintendent of District 27 Les Plotner addresses an audience on Friday afternoon at the Jefferson School on Fifth Street in Lincoln. On the left, the school bell from the original Jefferson School that stood from 1888 to the mid-1900's. To the far right is a photo of that school. Plotner, as well as other speakers and students of Jefferson, held a special "Farewell to Jefferson" assembly and ceremony on Friday afternoon. At the close of the school year, Jefferson School will close for good. The building was purchased by the city of Lincoln and will be restructured into a new city police department headquarters.
