LDN -- Top Stories

On Monday evening, Lincoln Mayor Marty Neitzel and the City Council issued a strong suggestion that the citizens of Lincoln respect the intended use of the recycle bins located across from Latham Park on North Kickapoo Street. Recently someone left a television at the recycle bins, and there was also a stack of cardboard boxes left there. The bins are not designated for those items. Now, the Logan County Joint Solid Waste Agency will have to figure out what to do with those items. The television, in particular, is going to be a problem. The city pays for the recycling. Thus, Lincoln taxpayers are paying for the recycling. When it is not used properly that increases the cost of managing the program, and makes it difficult for the LCJSW to do its job within the dollars allocated to it.
