Preparations
are well underway for the fall season at
Gail's Pumpkin Patch near Beason. Here
three of Gail's helpers work to ready up
batches of ornamental corn into bundles
that can be used as part of fall
centerpieces or hung on porch stoops, or
with corn stalk bundles as outdoor
decoration. The patch officially opened
on Friday and will be open daily now
through October 31st.

While kids were whooping it up at the
carnival in the park, adults enjoyed the
serene setting of Prairie Rest Cemetery
and hearing lore of past town folk who
made their mark on Delavan.Delavan
Community Historical Society walk thru
history presented "Early builders of
Delavan." Tinged with humor and passion,
the talks were perfect to build
community and to remember the influences
of a few past community minded persons:
Tex Meins, Ray H. Lillibridge, Frank W.
Payne, Leo J. Stumbaugh and Max Neumann.
The Delavan Fall Festival "A Community
of Superheroes" kicks into high gear
today through Monday.
