On Thursday, August 24th, the Lincoln Fire
Department honored Assistant Chief Steve Dahm as he entered into retirement at
the end of his shift. Dahm was with the
city department exactly 30 years,
starting work on August 24th, 1987. The
department honored Dahm with a lunch,
the gift of his uniform patch and badge,
and a new drum kettle smoker. The last
gift came with a summons that Dahm
should plan on often delivering lunch to
hungry firefighters that will include
freshly smoked meats from the new drum
kettle.

Lincoln Balloon Festival
Friday, August 25th through Sunday, August 27th
On Sunday morning, residents in the Beason
community awoke to something out of the ordinary. A sound
outside caused them to peek out and see what was going on.
What they found in a nearby open area was two hot air
balloons inflating for an early morning flight.
Though airport events had concluded on Saturday night, some
pilots remained in the area and took advantage of the calmer
winds on Sunday morning for a float across Logan County.
